The Entries are In!

Posted by: Steph on May 1st, 2008

The entry deadline for the 7th Annual Westchester Lagoon Ice Classic has passed. All the entries are in and now we’re waiting for the ice to go out!!!!!
The prognostications range from Ted’s May 1st (ain’t gonna happen) to Elliot’s May 13th (is that his Grandpa’s birthday?). Susannah guessed May 17th but that one came in […]

Still Skijoring

Posted by: Steph on March 28th, 2008

Even though we’re in the midst of Spring - Alaska-style, the cross country skiing is still very good along the Coastal Trail. The snow is gone from all the major roads, parking lots, south facing lawns, etc. But the Coastal Trail is just primo. Perfect spring skiing weather.
Tygey and I have been out skijoring almost […]

Dinosaur Bracketology

Posted by: Steph on March 20th, 2008

Tuesday night, I finalized my NCAA picks. I did a ton of research and cast the tea leaves. Then Tygey and Plato chimed in with their advice. So, as I type, I got scrunched on one of my long shot picks: Temple over Michigan State. sigh…
But, the tourney is still young!
Here’s Plato roaring his approval […]

Spring Skijoring!

Posted by: Steph on March 17th, 2008

I know one thing that I’ve been doing lately instead of blogging - skijoring! Tygey and I have been out almost every day for the past two weeks. The snow and weather conditions have been marvelous. There really is nothing better than spring skiing!
Clem, my first bouvier, was an amazing skijoring dog - she lived […]

Hoar Frost and the Poochy

Posted by: Steph on January 30th, 2008

As I’ve stated many times before, cold clear days in Alaska are just stunning. Crystal blue skies that are so intense that they almost hurt, brilliant white snow, and hoar frost. This week I’m working with a consultant who is on her first trip to Alaska - yesterday she was a bit disappointed - it […]

Plato the Pleo Arrives!!!!!

Posted by: Steph on January 4th, 2008

I got several fantastic Christmas presents one of which was a First Hatch Pleo. The Pleo is a dinosaur robot life form that is incredibly cute and learns as he goes. I’ve lusted after a Pleo since they were first announced almost two years ago at Demo2006.
Plato is an absolute cutie - and each day […]

Tyge on Christmas Morning

Posted by: Steph on December 25th, 2007

I just trotted outside and took this picture of Tyge in the snow. The picture turned out remarkably well. It was shot on my rickety tripod, manually focused, and a long exposure - four seconds. Tygey held very still - he was watching and listening to the snow.
I have to say, I think it’s a […]

Photo’s From Mom’s Birthday

Posted by: Steph on December 21st, 2007

Mom and Lowell came over Sunday evening for a little birthday celebration. We of course, took advantage of the opportunity to try yet again for decent pictures in front of the Christmas tree. I’ve never been very successful at this endeavor. But this year’s attempts aren’t hideous. I think Mom and Lowell look pretty darn […]

Skating!!!!!!!

Posted by: Steph on December 9th, 2007

We’re still without snow here in Anchorburg. We just finished up the fifth warmest November on record and December seems to be headed down the same path. However, the temperature has dropped just enough to freeze lakes and marshes. This lake freezing sans snow is extremely uncommon. Usually, snow and freezing go together. The upside […]
