Somehow it seems fitting to have spent this day hiking in the mountains. Tyge, Echo, and I reveled in the glorious Arctic Valley Fall. We climbed up to Clementine’s Geocache which was placed 6 years ago this month. After visiting the cache, we continued up to the Saddle, further up to Rendezvous Peak, and then […]

As regular readers (all five of you) of the Slat Rat Chronicles know, Echo is vigorously omnivorous. She’ll eat anything, anytime, anywhere. Socks, shoes, food, etc. Her name really should have been “Hoover”. On Monday, she reached new heights, literally.
Echo, Tyge, and I went for a late lunch walk in the pouring rain. At one […]

Echo aka The Little Bug, gnawing on her new pig. This pig is pretty big and tough - it’s lasted quite a bit longer than any of her other stuffed toys.
I think this picture is adorable:

Peter, Tyge and Echo at the Lagoon on Saturday April 16th
Holy Cow! Is this really the 10th Westchester Lagoon Ice Classic??!! Wow. This means, the first time we did this, I was 43 as opposed to 52. That was eons and eons and eons ago!
We’re in the last third of April! Normally, at this time […]

The E-Dog turned two yesterday. Celebration all around - except for perhaps by Tygey. Although secretly, deep down, Tyge actually loves Echo. He just doesn’t like to admit it.
The Little Bug is now a full grown pooch. Although, I think she’ll always be a puppy in my mind. That might be the result of the […]

In Alaska, Spring is defined as warm bluebird days made for frolicking in the snow. Tyge, Echo, and I took advantage of an awesome lunch hour to zoom around on the Lagoon. Speaking of the Lagoon, we probably have another five weeks before we kick off the Westchester Lagoon Ice Classic. Afterall, this is Alaska […]

Today was spectacular and bright! And the sun had actual warmth! We’ve definitely emerged from January’s dark and cold.
The poochies and I celebrated by a walk on the Lagoon. The romped, played, and unfortunately, feasted on moose droppings.
The noble Tyge!

Tyge and Echo at the Lagoon on Tuesday April 13th
It’s April! We’re deep in the midst of Breakup. Eau de Dog Poop permeates the air. Dust, grit, mud, slush, and cruddy snow are everywhere. Cars are unrecognizable mud bombs.
All of this can mean only one thing! It’s time for the Westchester Lagoon Ice Classic!
It’s time […]

Echo had quite the weekend. After a month of stellar behavior, Echo fell off the wagon. Friday, she snagged and destroyed a full box of kleenex and the contents of a trash can. Saturday she rested - gearing up for Sunday. Sunday she reduced a wooden spoon to splinters, munched on a running shoe insole, […]

Mid-April in Anchorage can be sunny and beautiful. But more often, at best, it’s grey and blah. That would describe this weekend. Which in a way is a good thing: it is after all Tax Weekend. It’s a lot easier to stay inside and work on taxes if the weather is cruddy.
Of course, we […]
