On my Way Back Home

As I type, I’m in the Portland Airport cooling my heels in the Board Room. My flight is an hour late - I won’t get home until after 1:00 AM. Big time ugh…

Right now, CNN is doing their over the top post debate coverage. Actually, my guess is that of any of the cable networks, CNN is probably the least histrionic. Of course, that’s damning by faint praise.

Last week, I watched the Veep debate at the Living Room Theatres in downtown Portland. What a total blast. There are six theatres, each of which seat fifty folks. All six theatres were packed. Beer, popcorn, and other goodies were available. It is totally the way to watch the debates. The audience is knowledgeable, engaged, and very fun. This being Portland, the audience was not republican friendly and basically boo’d and hissed Sarah Palin most of the evening.

A few audience members were playing Debate Bingo/Debate Drinking Game. By the end of the debate, when Sarah uttered her last “maverick”, the audience came undone. The latest hilarious Tina Fey Saturday Night Live video nailed it.

Portland must be the most liberal city in the US - hands down. And now I’m on my way back to my very red home state. And also a snowy state. It’s snowed for the last two days in Anchorage. I can’t wait to get home!!!!

Of course, I also get to see the Ski Boy and da Boo Bear. Ten days is a long time to be away from home.
