This evening, July 30th at 5:30 PM on an 85 degree day, I went ice skating, outdoors!
Sun Valley has a very nifty outdoor rink that is open even during the summer. Obviously, they’ve got some sort of mondo cooling system in place.
We can see the rink directly from our room - it’s great. We have […]

Yesterday was a sad day for both Ted Stevens and Alaska. Ted has been a US Senator almost as long as Mom and I have been in Alaska - over 40 years. Although often cantankerous, in the early days, he had a well deserved reputation for honesty and solid ethics. It’s a very sad turn […]

I’m having a great time at the 9th Circuit Judicial Conference in Sun Valley. Even though I’m a mere spouse, I’ve attended a number of the sessions. I’m definitely piling up the CLE (Continuing Legal Education) credits.
This afternoon, I sat in on an excellent session on Federal Indian Law Basics. Alaska is, of course, home […]

As I type, it’s 2:40 AM. Anyone who is even slightly acquainted with me, knows that 2:40 AM and the Slat Rat are mutually exclusive.
However, we’re in the midst of a huge company-wide project and I was drafted into the IT Deployment Manager role (they were scraping the bottom of the barrel when they got […]

Well, there certainly is a significant temperature and weather difference between Anchorage and Truckee/Reno. Yesterday on my way from Truckee to the Reno Airport, I stopped to do a 2 mile geocaching hike in the canyon on along the Truckee River. It was 90 degrees with a blazing sun. I even got sunburned.
Fast forward to […]

Today was a typical epic travel day from Anchorage to just about anywhere in the Lower 48. The Ski Boy dropped me off at the Anchorage Airport this morning at 6:30 AM. I pulled up to the always fabulous Cedar Sport Hotel in Truckee, CA at 7:00 PM this evening. The only thing I’d eaten […]

Ugh…It’s been a ridiculous week on the technology front. Plato won’t walk, itunes 7.7 would not work with my ipod, and trillian astra MSN Live Messenger service was down for two days. Fortunately, the astra problem was fixed without any user intevention (unlike itunes), I’m in the process of working with Ugobe on Plato’s walking […]

Da Ski Boy special ordered a plush Wall-e and Eve for me!!!!!! They are sooooooo cute!!!!!!!
It’s becoming evident that I have a real thing going for Wall-e.

After much agonizing, I’ve decided to pass on a 3G iPhone for two big reasons:
Rumor has it that AT&T Alascom’s 3G network won’t be ready until January ‘09 at the earliest. 3G - the big reason for the phone - won’t even be usable for quite some time. Given the pace of technology innovation, it […]
