500 Geocaches!!!!!

I’m a bit late getting this posted, but two weeks ago, while we were in Seattle, I snagged my 500th geocache!!!! It’s a big time milestone - either that or yet another example of my extremely geekiness.

Based on a suggestion from my buddy Scott, Peter and I decided to do the 500th via kayak. So, two weeks ago, on a very sunny Tuesday afternoon, we rented a two person kayak from the Agua Verde Paddleclub and headed out into Union Bay and Lake Washington in search of number 500.

We had a great time - although Peter’s back protested vehemently the entire way and we only found one out of three caches. It’s the journey stupid!

Again - another great example of places off the beaten trail that geocaching leads to!!!

Here are the obligatory pictures:

  1. Scott responds:

Congratulations! You guys got #500, some great pics, and a perspective that many local Seattleites never take the time to see… I noticed that on one of the kayak-only DNF caches, someone commented that Lake Washington is unusually high right now, and therefore, it was hard to reach. I’m guessing that the cache was underwater, or close to it. I’m going to hit 500 someday, although at this pace, we should schedule it for 2010.

looks like a great trip! I got to row through the “Cut” last when I was on the crew in college. It’s one of my favorite places in the entire Northwest.
