Spring Skijoring!

I know one thing that I’ve been doing lately instead of blogging - skijoring! Tygey and I have been out almost every day for the past two weeks. The snow and weather conditions have been marvelous. There really is nothing better than spring skiing!

Clem, my first bouvier, was an amazing skijoring dog - she lived to race. I was very good masters level skier and Clemmie was hot. Together we were a very formidable pair - at least over short distances - no more than 7 miles. After that, she basically decided enough was enough, would quit and dive into a snowbank to cool off.

Fast forward ten years. I’m limited on the ski front and Tygey, well unlike Clem, he doesn’t live to skijor. If I skate ski behind Tyge, I’m always running up his rear end. Speed is not his thing.

BUT, this Spring, I made a discovery. My classic ski pace is absolutely perfect for Tyge’s skijoring pace. He trots along ahead of me, keeps the towline just tight enough, and I ski at my putzy classic pace.

It’s a match made in heaven and we’re having a grand time!!!!!! We don’t want the snow to melt!
