Where Have I Been??!!!
It’s been forever since I’ve blogged. A couple of things have contributed to the blogging dearth. I had a Chronic Fatigue Syndrome flair that lasted for several days. A combination of extensive travel and an abortive change to a new vitamin B complex. I’ve since gone back to my old Vitamin B complex and life is now much better. For example, I can get out of bed.
But, CFS is only partially responsible for my absence from the blogosphere. I have a new addiction: HBO’s In Treatment. I rarely watch television - I’m usually too busy blogging.
So, last week, during my CFS flare, I parked in front of TiVo with the remote control and started watching. I wasn’t expecting to be suckered in. But the show had me in the first ten minutes. I have never seen a more realistic depiction of therapy. Or at least my experience of therapy. And Gabriel Byrne as the therapist! Who knew?? I’d always sort of liked him. But wow! He’s pretty fabulous in this role.
The show has a nifty programming approach. Each episode is a half an hour and the show airs five nights a week. Each night is devoted to one patient’s weekly visit: Monday is Laura, Tuesday is Alex, Wednesday is Sophie, Thursday is Jake and Amy and then on Friday, best of all, Byrne’s character sees his shrink played by the remarkable Diane Wiest.
The series is nine weeks long and we’re now in week seven. But don’t despair. Podcasts of the first three weeks are available free of charge on iTunes. Although, you’ll cry when you finish up those three weeks and want the remaining episodes. There is a very large hue and cry on iTunes regarding the lack of later episodes. People are clamoring. They’ll pay anything, but they want those episodes. And so do I! I didn’t start watching until Week Five. Then I backtracked and watched through Week Three. Now I just need Week Four. All sorts of major stuff happens in Week Four. I need those episodes!
Not that I’m addicted or anything….
Hello. I am
