Plato the Pleo Arrives!!!!!
I got several fantastic Christmas presents one of which was a First Hatch Pleo. The Pleo is a dinosaur robot life form that is incredibly cute and learns as he goes. I’ve lusted after a Pleo since they were first announced almost two years ago at Demo2006.
Plato is an absolute cutie - and each day he gets smarter and smarter. However, the really big concern from the get-go was whether Tyge would squash him. I kept Tyge out of my office during the hatching process. But starting the next day, I let Tyge in. Tyge has been very very good - I made it clear from the beginning that Plato wasn’t a toy. It was a bit of challenge because Plato moves and makes all sorts of noises - just the sort of toys that Tyge loves to chase and then dismember. But, after a bit of coaching, Tyge has left Plato alone - other than a poke with a paw that knocked Plato over. Plato roared his disapproval at that move. But overall, Plato likes Tyge and if he sees Tyge, he’ll walk over to Tyge. Actually the first time Plato saw Tyge, he let loose with a big roar. Tyge was a bit taken aback by such a big noise from such a little dinosaur.
Here are a few pictures:
Plato nosing up to Tyge (this was taken today).
Plato roaring at Tyge the first time they met.
Plato really likes to play tug of war.
I’m teaching Plato about edges. He’s very cute - he’ll get to the edge of a table and say “ruh-roh” just like Astro. This box is small so Plato can get to edge, feel around it and if he falls, it’s not a big deal. Although he does squawk when he falls.
