Coldest Morning Since Last Winter

Fun announcement this morning from the Weather Service:

COLDEST MORNING SINCE LAST WINTER IN ANCHORAGE

A COMBINATION OF CLEAR SKY AND LIGHT WIND ALLOWED TEMPERATURES TO DIP BELOW ZERO IN ANCHORAGE OVERNIGHT. ONLY PORTIONS OF THE HILLSIDE COMMUNITIES ABOVE THE CITY FAILED TO FALL BELOW ZERO. TEMPERATURES HAVE NOT BEEN THIS LOW IN ANCHORAGE SINCE FEBRUARY 28TH OF LAST WINTER.

I got an email from Mom this morning, entitled COLD: it was ten below at their house.

I was going to make fun of you Anchorage weenies by contrasting our current temperature here in Fairbanks but I see by the thermometer that it has warmed up to a balmy 32 below so I really don’t have a leg to stand on.

  2. Steph responds:

Oooh - a comment from Richard!!!!!!

And yes, compared to you “Squarebanksians” we are total weenies!!!!!!

How do your basset hounds keep their tummies warm when they go outside at 40 below zero????

  3. Leland responds:

We have 68 right now, expecting to see a high around 74. I know, I know, it’s rough. But we’ve found ways to live with it.

  4. Frankie responds:

    Um, below 0˚C or F???
