Diigo - A Highlighter’s Dream

When I read technical or interesting (not necessarily mutually exclusive) documents, I yellow-highlight the stuffing out of them. It’s the only way I have a prayer of remembering what I’ve read. However, this practice leads to a build-up of paper. Which is annoying. Not at all Green. And a fire hazard.

A few weeks ago, I started thinking – what I really wanted was a way to highlight web pages on-line and then find them later. So based on that somewhat fuzzy requirement, I did a google search and discovered Diigo.

I think I’m in love!

These guys have gone way beyond my highlighting requirements. In addition to a drop-dead simple and effective highlight/bookmark interface, they also have a “sticky note feature” as well as blog interfaces. They’ve also built a very interesting social network architecture. And they export to del.icio.us and other social bookmarking sites.

I’m totally hooked – these guys nailed it.
