Halloween Detail Shop Demolition
There is something deeply satisfying about a wrecking ball crashing into the side of an old building that’s been a neighborhood eyesore for years. It’s doubly satisfying when the wrecking ball is painted up as a pumpkin in celebration of Halloween.
The Government Hill detail shop has been a disaster for years - a nasty business with poor chemical supervision. As my buddy Steve stated, it’s a great lesson in the importance of good planning. We’ve been trying to get rid of the detail shop for over 10 years - it was menace. Finally, the municipality, the port, the railroad, and the developer of our new Takahtnu project all got together and voila, no more detail shop. Yea!!!!
The demo celebration today at Noon was attended by all the big shots. The best part definitely was watching the wrecking ball crash into the building. Oooh - just so satisfying.
Here are some pics:
Breaking through the glass - this was taken at the moment the ball crashed into the glass. Although it doesn’t look as exciting as it should.
