TripIt!!!!

This weekend, Mom sent me a link to TripIt, an on-line travel organizer. She heard about TripIt via this Economist article. Here’s what TripIt does:

* Organize trip details into one master online itinerary — even if arrangements are booked at multiple travel sites.
* Automatically include maps, directions and weather in their master itinerary.
* Have the option to book restaurants, theater tickets, activities and more right from within the online itinerary.
* Safely access travel plans online, share them, check-in for flights, or print an itinerary.

And here’s the beauty of it - you don’t have to type in any of the information. Instead, you just forward your booking confirmation emails. For example, I’m going to Seattle and then San Francisco the third week of September. I forwarded my hotels.com and Alaska Airlines confirmation emails to the TripIt email address and literally within seconds (five seconds actually), my TripIt Itinerary was built - it had my plane and hotel reservations, maps, and even weather info. And it was all correct.

Wowsa!!!!!! Quite impressive.

For those of us who travel a ton - or even just a little bit - this could be a godsend. All of your travel info in one easily accessible spot.

It even has a social component - you can set up a circle of friends and they can view your itinerary. I can’t tell you how handy this will be for married couples.

If TripIt continues to work this well, it could quickly become essential. And who knew I even needed such a thing?
