Friday Afternoon Excitement at Corporate America

I was in the midst of a conference call, when all at once sirens erupted from every direction. I looked out the window and counted 7 police cars and two motorcycle cops zooming through our parking lot and the neighboring lots.

As I continued to watch (and talk on my call), the cars all pulled u-turns and screamed past our building. Then thirty seconds later, the police cars came back, “escorting” a beat-up forest green American compact car. The entourage pulled into our parking lot, right below my window. The policeman in the lead car turned on his loud speaker, told the driver of the car to put his hands on the steering wheel and not to move. Just like the television shows!

The cause for all this hoopla was that evidently a bank was robbed in the mall across the street.

Below are the [blurry] pictures taken with my cellphone - my real camera was in Henry II (who was just a few parking spaces away from all the action). As I type, it looks as if they’re going to let the guy go - we’re down to just two police officers and our suspected culprit and although the suspected perp is still cuffed, everyone seems quite relaxed and even a bit friendly. No Rodney King going on here - nothing even close. I think the cops are writing the guy a ticket - his beater is obviously far from street legal.

Ah, the view from your office is fantastic! Is there still tape on the vents to keep it from being uber-freezing? By the way, if those are really phone pics, I want your phone…just don’t tell pacnwtxn! :) Hope the bank robber was apprehended and Henry II survived the excitement.
