Break Out the Brooms

A whirlwind 5 days - yesterday was the only day among five days that I was not on an airplane - four out five days going through airport security. Oh boy - how much fun can one person have?

I made it back to Seattle from Salt Lake Monday evening and got down to the ballpark just in time for the start of the game one of the three game Red Sox-Mariners series. And this was a game not worth showing up for - the Mariners won 9-2. The Mariners won again last night and then this afternoon, they broke out the brooms and swept the Red Sox right out of Safeco. The Mariners and their fans were ecstatic. However, the sweep really wasn’t a surprise. The Mariners own the Red Sox - particularly at Safeco. The Red Sox haven’t won in Seattle for at least 8 games. ugh…

That being said, this afternoon’s game was a true delight: a pitchers duel that went to extra innings before the Mariners won 3-1 in the bottom of the 11th. It was a treat to see Dice-K pitch - the guy really can pitch. Not a motion is wasted and he’s focused and efficient on the mound. Plus when he’s at the top of his wind-up, his does this little rock motion thing with his waist and legs - it’s almost yoga-like - finding his balance center.

Definitely a good baseball day - it would have been perfect if the Bosmos had won.
