A Gray Lagoon Day

Today was the first day since surgery that I had enough oomph to toddle down to the Lagoon and snap some pictures. The ice is pretty far gone. I’d say it’s 2/3’s out. And actually, “gone” and “out” are probably the wrong terms. A significant portion of the ice has actually sunk down under a surface layer of water. That being said, that sunk ice won’t last for much longer.

My bet is that the ice will be out by sometime on Thursday - April 26th.

Today was a very gray and cold day. April in Alaska is not your April anywhere else. Usually, it’s gray, cold, dusty, and ugly. Definitely not Alaska’s best time of year.

You can see the sunk ice in this picture - it’s the brown stuff under what appears to be open water.
