Yesterday morning, as I stepped out of the shower, I heard Tyge downstairs barking. I ignored the cacophony - Tyge frequently barks at invisible elephants. We’re having a few air conditioning issues at work. A graph depicting the air conditioning temperature trends was sent out. The graph line is basically squiggling at a level state and then it shoots straight up - that’s when the air conditioner quit working. Below is a very funny email thread regarding those issues and […]

One of our local volcanos, Mt. Spurr has been blowing off a bit of steam lately. Mt. Spurr is the closest volcano to Anchorage and we’ve been heavily ashed more than once. Today’s Daily News Headline was Winter Overstays Its Welcome. It’s cold and breakup hasn’t even started. According to the National Weather Service, this March will tie for the fourth coldest March on record. I’m sure Mom can attest to that - it’s still below zero every morning at the Mom abode. However, I will say […]

Monday was Sethy’s 30th birthday. I’m not sure who took the auspicious date harder, Pooh or Papa Pooh. As my Mom said at one point in our lives, “It’s difficult to think of one’s self as 40 years old when one’s offspring is 30.”
We celebrated the big day by doing hunks o’ grilled cow (a […]

So much for making it through the entire winter without getting sick - which I’ve never managed to do in my entire life. But I was feeling like this year was the year - almost the end of March and nary a sniffle. However, this weekend, starting with one sneeze, I commenced the long slippery […]

Ooooh - good two days for the Slat Rat’s brackets - 9 for 10 - including today’s UCLA upset over Kansas. I inched into first place in my work pool. But tomorrow Scott has Georgetown over North Carolina and I have North Carolina. That game will be for all the marbles in the pool because […]

Oh boy! Baseball season starts in less than two weeks. Which of course, also means that fantasy baseball kicks off within less than two weeks. Hope springs eternal - this year, the Wool Sox (my fantasy team) are gunning for an in-the-money finish.
Below is an email I received today from our league commissioner. It is […]
