The Office

For Christmas, Pooh gave me the first two seasons of The Office. The DVDs were actually on my Christmas list even though I’d never seen an episode and knew virtually nothing about the show other than it was based on the hit British comedy of the same name.

Omigod. I have never in my life watched anything so painfully funny. It really really hurts. The show is an HR trainwreck. If you work in an office environment, this series is your worst nightmare - in the funniest, most painful, way possible. I have never before experienced painful humor and it’s a trip. That being said, if you can stand it, the show is wonderful - the characters and their actors are true gems.

Last week, I asked Peter two questions: Who is worse? Michael or Dwight? Peter thought about it and answered, Michael, because he should know better.

I then asked, If you had to sleep with one of them, who would you pick? I lost Peter with that question. It was just too horrifying to contemplate.

I don’t know, they’re now making Andy out to be worse than either of the other two. This was a hard show for me to get into at first, because everything was such an HR violation! Now that I’m into it though, I have to record it every week.

  2. Frankie responds:

    Isn’t this show the best?

You know, I would pick Dwight, if I had to choose between Michael and Dwight. He seems like whatever he does, he takes it to the extreme.

    I guess he’d be…uhh…dedicated (?) to the task?

Wow, this is tough and probably revealing way too much about me.

  3. Steph responds:

Well, I’ve given this a bunch of thought and I’d have to pick Michael - I’m pretty sure it would be over quickly. Dwight would be just too scary - see Frankie’s description above.

  4. Andrea responds:

Sorry for the delayed response, but better late than never: if such a horrible choice had to be made, I would chose Dwight. The reason: the only thing worse than sleeping with Michael/Dwight would be having a third-party find out that I had slept with him/him. As recent episodes have shown, and Jan and Angela can certainly attest, Michael is a blabbermouth, while Dwight would suffer anything rather than betray his lover. Discretion is the key, and Dwight has it.
